World History 2012-2013 Text: World History (Glencoe)
Introduction: This is an elective course designed to connect world history to the relevance of your everyday living. You are welcome to contact me if you need help with an assignment or preparation for a test. My cell phone number is 970-520-9084. I have a plan period during first (first semester only), sixth hour and eighth hour (after junior high football is over). Also, feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]
Accommodations: Please notify me as soon as possible if you have any accommodations you need me to be aware of. I have copies of I.E.P.’s and 504 plans; however, if you have any undocumented accommodations I need to know. This could include seating arrangements and/or test conditions.
Grades: Each unit will be divided into three categories: participation, assessments, and case study.
Participation: You will earn this grade by watching the lessons, taking notes, and your willingness to participate in the daily classroom activities. This is worth 10 points per day. If you are absent, you are expected to make up the reading or assignments of that particular day.
Tests: Your learning will be assessed formatively in each section through voice threads, blogs, and other multiliteracy media. These formative assessments will accompany most lessons, and these will be worth 10 points each. Then you will take a unit assessment, worth around 100 points.
Case Study: You will be given a case study in each unit worth 100 points. These case studies will be accompanied by a rubric, and you will be given some class time to work on them. However, if the time given is not utilized by a large majority of the class, that time can be taken away, and you will need to work on it during your own time.
